Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. – John 10:21
The chief priests drew a line. On one side of the line they put what actually is, and on the other side put what Jesus said as if they are two different things. They could recite the inscription, but didn’t believe it. They could reiterate what Jesus said and proclaimed, but they didn’t trust and live by it. Oh, believer, how you and I are the same at times. We can recite the verses inscribed on our hearts, yet our lives suggest it is just something “that He said” and we don’t actually live it out. May the chief priests and their own demise open a window into that abundant life Jesus promises us. And that window is this: it does the heart no good to just know “that He said.” It provides no fruit for our own soul to just be able to recite the things “that He said.” Don’t just read the inscription on the cross. Don’t just know the things “that He said.” Don’t allow our own intellect and reason begin to suggest there is something that exists aside from or contrary to the things “that He said.” What He says IS reality. Everything else is temporal. It’s shadows. It’s a mirage. It’s not real. Our reality is this: “that He said” is the very same thing as what actually “IS.” IT IS only because He first spoke it into existence. He IS the King of the Jews because He says He is! You ARE more than a conqueror thru Christ Jesus because He says you are! You ARE complete in Him because He says you are! You HAVE life, life abundantly, and life eternally because He says you do! What He “says” IS life! Christian, don’t just know “that He said” the things that the Bible says. Believe it! It’s the difference between the Pharisee and the disciple. It’s the difference between the sinner and the saint. It’s the difference between life and death! It’s the difference between peace and chaos! It’s the difference between joy and misery! It. Is. The difference. Know, trust, and believe that He and His Word IS! Thus you ARE! He and His Word HAS! Thus you CAN! He and His Word shall endure! Thus You WILL! KNOW His Voice! BELIEVE His Word! And LIVE!
“But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.”
