The year is 2010 the place is Sun Life Stadium Miami Florida, attendance is 103,219 fans . The New Orleans Saints first ever Super Bowl . The saints are down 10 – 6 at halftime and then a shift in the game with the recovery of an on side kick ! Drew Brees the quarter back completed 32 out of 39 passes and the New Orleans Saints win their first ever Super Bowl since they entered the NFL as an expansion franchise in 1967 . 31 to 17 the final score !!
The crowd is crazy, the sound in the Silverdome is deafening , the celebration is wild the streets in the city of New Orleans is frantic and people are dancing and shouting and giving high fives 🖐 there is an overwhelming sense of praise for this victory.
What a celebration it was for the Saints fans and I’m sure for any football fan whose team has won a Super Bowl, there was just as much celebration and praising ,you may even call it worshipping their winning team.
Shouldn’t we as Christians be just as excited about our risen savior , who gave his life so that we may have life. The Bible speaks a lot about praising and worshipping :
Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.
Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
Now that sounds like the kind of celebration and praising that was happening at the super bowl. Doesn’t our God deserve that kind of praise and worship.
I would almost guarantee that every person shouting and celebrating the Super Bowl victory was truly motivated and at that moment in time it was from their heart full of passion and greatly noised for the victory they had experienced.
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
Praise from the heart ♥️
