“And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands? And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath. And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard. Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?”
1 Samuel 21:11-14
Here in 1st Samuel, David is on the run fleeing from King Saul. The servants of Achish are mocking David, and the mighty reputation that he has, and how he is on the flee from this king who is in no way comparable with him in the eyes of man because of God’s blessing on David’s life. Yet and still, David allows these words to distract him. Sometimes we allow things to bother us more than we should. David allowed this to get into his heart. Don’t let things get so deep into your heart to the point they make you act like you’ve lost your mind. Ask the Lord today to keep you from being distracted and to help keep you devoted only to Him.
