The Lord needs them
“And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.”
God, sovereign over all creation. Mighty, powerful, wonderful. Omnipresent, omniscient, benevolent, God. The God of heaven and earth. We serve a God that is beyond our limitations. Beyond our needs, wants, and desires. That is, He isn’t constricted by the same desires that we have. Our God has need of nothing. Here in this text it says, the Lords needs them. The donkey and the colt. It’s mind blowing to me to see those words. How awesome they must have sounded to the owner of the donkey and colt.
The Lord needs them. I look in my life today and wonder, what is it, that the Lord could use, what does my Lord need, from my life, to fulfill His purposes and will? Maybe it’s my child, my car, my money, my time, only we know, and can respond to the requests of the Holy Spirit.
“Behold, thy King cometh unto thee,”
He’s come unto us, and He’s coming back. Let us devote whatever it is God needs today, to this meek and lowly hearted King.
