-Douglas Reid #TAKEASHOWER

Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

The next part of our ‘Spiritual SHOWER’ goes with the letter ‘e.’ Encourage. When we take our spiritual check up, one of the things that we need to do is encourage someone. It’s nice to have someone say something nice and encouraging to you, but how often do you say something encouraging to someone else? You never know what the person next to you is going through. Perhaps, all they need is a listening ear or a note of encouragement. It is not always about giving someone advice; sometimes, they just need a “you can do this” or some other word of encouragement. In the way iron sharpens iron, let us let our encouraging words sharpen others. As you go throughout your weekend, try encouraging someone (perhaps, even try to encourage the one who normally encourages you)! Martin Luther King Jr. stated that “hate does not drive out hate; only love can do that.” Perhaps, it is the same way with discouragement. Discouragement cannot drive out discouragement; only encouragement can do that.
