“Somebody Get the Doctor”
Have you ever been sick and needed to visit the doctor’s office? If you’re like me, you usually wait as long as possible until finally deciding you NEED to see a medical expert for help. Once you’ve finally realized your need and gone into the office, you won’t settle for seeing anyone less than the doctor will you? Why is that? It’s because while you may value the opinions of other medical staff or listen to what they say, you want to hear a diagnosis and get help from the actual physician. You want help from the person who you’ve come to because they can give you the help you need based off their credentials. You won’t settle for anyone else’s opinions or self-diagnosis off Google because you want to go to the source itself.
Now how many of us will do that with Jesus? How many of us settle for learning about Him from second-hand sources? From others telling us what they think/know about Him? Just as we have access to see a doctor in our time of need, we have direct access to Jesus! We can come to know Him for ourselves based off of a personal encounter with Him. Jesus said He came not for the healthy, but the sick. In the same way in which we settle for nothing less than seeing the doctor, may we settle for nothing less than a personal encounter with Jesus. May the depth our faith not be hinged on another’s testimony, but be because you’ve walked into Jesus’ office yourself seeking a diagnosis. He is the ultimate source of knowledge, the ultimate physician, and the only one who holds the cure for this sickness called sin that we all have. If you haven’t scheduled your appointment yet, what are you waiting for?
“But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.”
