Most of us have either had a wedding, been in a wedding, or attended one. With that in mind, think about all the preparations that take place for that big day to happen. Specifically, think about how much the bride prepares for this day. Not only the countless hours up until the ceremony itself getting herself ready, but the months and sometimes even years before of preparations. Needless to say, a lot of work goes into that day and more times than not it’s the bride doing most of the prepping.
The relationship between God and his church is often compared to a marriage. We, the church, are referred to as the ‘bride of Christ’ throughout scripture. So in like manner, we should be preparing ourselves to meet our bridegroom someday. While we may not know the day or hour He will come for us, one thing is certain: you’re closer to meeting Him now than ever before. With each passing day, we are given new opportunity to prepare ourselves for His return. We need to take advantage of every chance we get to learn more about Him, grow in our relationship, and continually be the hands/feet of Jesus. After all, we have been saved and left here to act on His behalf until He comes to take us home. So let us rejoice in His expected return and upon meeting Him, may He find that we have been the faithful bride He has called us to be!
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”
