It’s Just Jesus
Many times, in my short walk with the Lord, I have heard some of my nearest and dearest brothers and sisters in Christ bring unto remembrance, time and time again, in my life, Jesus. The many times I’ve sought answers for life’s problems, when my curiosity begins to lead me astray, and when I begin to worry about the things that aren’t really the greatest of concern, I’m thankful for my family in Christ who has reminded me, that at the end of the day, in this race we are running as Paul said, it’s just Jesus.
As I have been reading through the book of Revelation, God has just continued to show me the truth in that the more. As all of our pastors have preached many times, we often will look to God for something outside of himself. For instance, seeking peace. We cannot find peace apart from Jesus because to God be the Glory, He IS our peace. Everything good that has happened in my life, it’s not just something God did, it’s just who He is. God has been so good. It’s just Jesus.
In The book of Revelation 2:18-29 Jesus speaks with the church of Thyatira. As He gives guidance unto His New Testament church (to us) He deals with false prophets and false doctrine and encourages them to hold fast, and He leaves them with a great hope. Jesus says in verse 28 for those who overcome to hold on to what they have “And I will give him the morning star”. Looking deeper into this amazing book later Jesus gives even more light to this revelation. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus says, “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.” Did you catch that?? Our reward, is none other, then Christ Jesus Himself. It’s just Jesus. I look back into my life and look around me now and everything I have, it’s just Jesus. Every blessing from above, every healing, every fish I’ve caught, the home, my shelter, my ability and gifts. Every single bit of it is just Jesus extending who He is unto and into me. I am thankful for all that I have but at the end of the day, when everything is tried by fire and there’s nothing left I pray that all I have to show for, that it’s just Jesus. Thank you Lord, for loving us the way that you have, and giving us the greatest gift we could ever receive. Thank YOU, for giving us yourself.
