“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭

Unity in verse 3 can be defined as “oneness.” This spiritual unity was not designed or made by man but by God. God gave each believer the gift of the Holy Spirit at the moment he or she became born again. Once we are born again of God’s spirit, He is then our heavenly Father and we become His children. We are one in the spirit because there’s only one Spirit. This gift of the Holy Spirit is the basis of our spiritual unity. God’s children are spiritually one and can move together as we keep this unity. Division discredits the Christian message and disqualifies Christians as credible messengers of Christ. A unified people are a strong people. A unified church is a mighty force for God. Little wonder why Paul repeatedly emphasized it.
Now I dare say Christians would hesitate to declare the importance of unity in the body of Christ, but the question is :what do we do to keep it? The Word of God tell us that we must endeavor to keep the unity. Endeavor means — to use speed, to make every effort, be prompt or earnest, to do or give diligence, be diligent, labour, and study. (Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary) God tells us we are to give every effort, that we are to actually labor in this cause. We all have a part. We must strive, we must toil, we must sincerely labor, we must give every available effort to keep the unity of the Spirit. We are to do our best to see that we are part of the peace and not the problems. We should go out of our way to promote love and unity through the bond—the closeness to one another—of peace. Dear friend, Ask yourself this important question today : have I endeavored today? Let us be sure to endeavor to come together and be worthy of His calling.
