“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”
Dedication. Commitment. Grit. Endurance. Persistence. Determination. Consistency. Perseverance.
Just a few words of what I believe Paul meant when he said, “none of these things”.
Through rain or through shine. When the days are good and when the days are not so good. Through blood, sweat, and tears. Through friends and foes. Through ups and downs. With an abundance or with a shortage. Popular or unpopular.
Paul says that finishing his course with joy and the ministry that he received from Jesus was of greater importance to him than his own life. Greater importance than the momentary pain and suffering from worldly trials.
The faith and strength of a gladiator. A solider. A true warrior. Lord help us all to dig deep today by your grace, and finish our course with joy, completing this ministry in which you have given us.
